Add plants you're interested in to get started.
Plants are good for the world — but how we buy and sell them matters too. Here's how Lushstem is working to keep our footprint small and our impact positive.
Locally sourced plants
We prioritise vendors who grow their plants in Nigeria — reducing the carbon footprint of long-distance imports and supporting local horticultural talent.
Minimal packaging
We encourage vendors to use biodegradable wrapping, recycled cardboard boxes, and to avoid single-use plastics when shipping plants.
Empowering small sellers
Every plant bought from an independent Nigerian vendor means income stays local — sustaining families, not corporations.
Carbon-conscious hosting
Our platform infrastructure is hosted on providers committed to renewable energy targets, minimising the digital footprint of every search and listing.
Small choices compound into real change.
Choose vendors in your city to cut delivery distance
Ask vendors about organic growing practices before buying
Reuse or repurpose old pots instead of always buying new
Propagate your plants and share with friends — the greenest plant is one that costs nothing
Choose local species adapted to Nigeria's climate — they need less water and care
When you sell on Lushstem, we ask you to commit to the following packaging standards to protect both your plants and our planet.
Use biodegradable or recycled outer packaging where possible
Avoid bubble wrap — use newspaper or shredded cardboard instead
Label fragile plants clearly and secure root balls properly
Use box sizes appropriate to plant size — avoid excess space
Become a sustainable vendor
We're developing a “Sustainably Packed” badge for vendors who consistently meet our packaging standards. Look out for this in 2026.
